CECEdu is a nongovernmental nonprofit organization that aims to find new ways of educating workers in the cultural sector. It focuses mainly on managerial topics, managing projects in practise on a decentralised basis, extending knowledge about the current cultural policies in the Czech Republic and the European Union.
Our main goal is to raise a new generation of people responsible for culture deeply integrated within the civil society. We believe that society without live art and culture becomes technocratic, impersonal, selfish and dehumanized. Deep involvement and participation of citizens in culture, however, brings new understanding of democracy, a sense of community belonging and, above all, stronger awareness of responsibility for the world we live in. Štěpán Kubišta, Jindřich Krippner, Andrej Harmečko and Jan Veselý, founders of CECEdu, mainly draw their inspiration from the experience with the European Diploma in Cultural Project Management educational course, which is an international educational platform for cultural managers and state and local administrative workers run by Association Marcel Hicter for more than twenty years.
The Association also initiates creation of national educational programs in cooperation with local institutions. We would like to introduce European Diploma Czech, an international educational project that we and our partner organizations plan to start in the Czech Republic in 2015. The project aims to raise a new generation of cultural managers who, after finishing the course, will be able to work on development and implementation of new strategies for their cultural institutions, cities, municipalities or the whole Czech Republic, inspired by the current strategies and plans of the EU and the current development of the sector in the world.
The main goal of the educational program is to raise new generations of professionals who will follow up from European standards, manage European funds and work on developing civil society. The project is targeted at professionals in various disciplines in the cultural sector. Gained experience will help literary managers to make new contacts abroad, fundraisers to find new ways of financing culture, directors of theaters and cultural institutions to establish new partnerships in Europe, local administrative workers in culture departments, public relations workers to find new ways of communicating with the public and audience, and it will also help people involved in development of civil society and in making it more active.
